Cumitas was established in 1968 to manufacture combine harvesters, grain drills and planters under a licence agreement with John Deere. In 1986, after producing 26,250 units of agricultural machines, Cumitas ended its agreement with John Deere and started manufacturing earth-moving machinery and industrial machinery under its own brand, Cukurova.
